Ellie Devers created RESONATE to give beginning, emerging and professional voice actors the opportunity to work one-on-one with a veteran voice actress and teacher and to offer them a place to practice and develop their craft wherever they are in the world.
Ellie has taught voice acting in New York City for nearly twenty years and has found that the craft of voice acting needs to be taught individually, with the teacher working closely with each student, in the same way one learns to play a musical instrument. Every person comes from a different background and has individual strengths and goals as a voice actor so that classroom or group coaching ends up generalizing and watering down the learning experience for those involved. Many of Ellie’s students have gone on to enjoy success in voice-overs in all parts of the country and the world, while her already-professional students have given new life to their careers.
Ellie Devers is a professional voice actress with Innovative Artists and was the co-founder of and coach for APVoices, a voice-over instruction and demo production house on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She has voiced national television and radio campaigns for many major companies and brands, including Canon, Ford, AT&T, Sprint, McDonald’s, Colgate-Palmolive, Bausch + Lomb, MetLife, Merrill Lynch, Accenture, International Paper, Tylenol, Tide, Yoplait, Cheerios, and Maybelline.
A writer and a performer, Ellie works in many different media beyond voice-overs. She has worked extensively in television. Ellie was the creator, writer, and host for the talk show Pandora on Lifetime. She was a channel host for fX with Tom Bergeron and Jeff Probst, as well as a journalist for CNN’s Café USA and King World’s American Journal. She has appeared on numerous TV shows, including Saturday Night Live, Law & Order, Ed, One Life to Live, All My Children, The Knights of Prosperity, and the Late Show with David Letterman.
As a storyteller, Ellie has also performed her material as part of many East Village storytelling shows, including Word at The Sidewalk Bar & Restaurant, Tale at the Three of Cups, and the Say the Word series hosted by Beth Lapides at the Knitting Factory. Her essays can also be found online at Fresh Yarn, “the online salon for personal essays.”
She has also appeared off-Broadway in her own one-person show entitled My Mother’s Dead and I’m Not Feeling So Hot Myself, directed by Jack Cummings III of the Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Transport Group. Ellie was a company member of the comedy groups The Groundlings East and Gotham City Improv. She is a graduate of both the State University of New York and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
